Bible Study - We need a Renaissance

Nowadays, Christians don´t study the Bible like before…. Now, we study the wording of our personal prophecies, and we “ooh!” and “ahh!” over the Elijah Lists and youtube-reports.

Bible Study - We need a RenaissanceBible study is exciting! (photo: Tor H. Lanton)We finally received Turkish New Testaments today. Hard to get, believe it or not. The Norwegian Bible Society and Christian Book Shops couldn´t help, even though their websites indicate otherwise. Finally, one of the wonderful evangelists and leaders in Operation Mobilization (OM) in Norway helped us. PTL! Thank you, Jesus, for Operation Mobilization! We need true evangelists who believe and use the Bible today!

As we have struggled to get these New Testaments, along with other languages that we need in our ministry in Oslo, I have pondered the tremendous significance of  studying the Bible.

As a young man, I learned to love the Bible.

Every morning, sleepy or not, my dad would be up at 4:30am to read the Bible in his chair. I loved to wake up early and sit on his lap while he was meditating on and studying the Word.

I grew up in the era when Billy Graham´s proclamation, “The Bible says!”, became the motto of the young Christian generation. I grew up at the time when the Lausanne Movement emerged to show the way for a staggering Christendom, so poisoned by liberal theology and wishy-washy World Council of Churches thinking.

Nowadays, Christians don´t study the Bible like before…. Now, we study the wording of our personal prophecies, and we “ooh!” and “ahh!” over the Elijah Lists and youtube-reports….

Maybe I´m too harsh, but please consider this anyway.

We need to read, meditate on, study, and practice the Word of God, the infallible 66 books of the Bible! We need a renaissance of Bible study!
